In case you received a Mac computer which has been used earlier, or you want to reinstall your Mac computer, here's how to reinstall macOS.
If you simply want to reinstall the macOS version, but you want to keep your files, you can use the Simple reinstallation method.
1) On Power up, hold the Cmd+R key combination.
2) Now you should see the menu with 4 options. If Mac prompts you to enter your password, simply type in your administrator password.
3) On the menu that has just appeared, click the second option Install macOS {name of the macOS version you have}. Than you need to agree with the licence agreement, select the destination and click install.
4) After your Mac has finished the installation, simply type in your user password and go on with working!
In case with Clean reinstallation, we will be erasing our hard disc.
1) On Power up, hold the Cmd+R key combination.
2) Now you should see the menu with 4 options. If Mac prompts you to enter your password, simply type in your administrator password.
3) On the menu that has just appeared, click "Disk Utility", hit Cmd+2 and select your hard disc - it will be on top of the list in your Sidebar
4) Now, click Erase in menu bar, select APFS as a Filesystem, GUID Partition Table as a partitioning method and click "Erase" - the duration of the erasing process may vary from 1 to 5-6 minutes.
5) After the process has finished, hit Cmd+Q and go to "Install macOS {name of your macOS release}". Than you need to agree with the licence agreement, select the destination and click install.
6) After the installation, you will need to set up your Mac with your settings.
If your Mac has some big troubles with using it, it may happen because of the damaged components inside the installer. To solve this, we'll be doing an Internet Recovery - this method installs the newest macOS version compatible with your device.
1) On Power Up, hit and hold Alt+Cmd+R.
2) After a while, you will see a globe with a drop down. If you have Ethernet, connect it to the device. If you have a wireless connection, you need to select your router in the dropdown list, enter the password, hit enter and wait a bit. The process may take up to 10 minutes.
3) Now, you should see the menu with 4 options. On the menu that has just appeared, click "Disk Utility", hit Cmd+2 and select your hard disc - it will be on top of the list in your Sidebar
